Holiday Open House

Special Workshop Event

On November 19th Kathy Owen, of Caromal Colours, will be presenting a full day of Caromal Colours workshops. The classes will give you a hands-on introduction to a wide variety of Caromal Colours products for the homeowner. At the end of the day you will be excited to get home and decide what projects to work on first. It is easy and also economical to acheive truly professional looking results with these products. You can sign up for one class or attend all three
Workshop 1: Distressed for Success: 9am to 10:30am

CC basecoat paints come in 10 basic colors and adhere to almost any clean surface withouth prior priming or sanding. This makes them ideal for kitchen cabinets, furniture, accessories, etc. It is also easy to achieve a two color distressed and aged affect with our chipping creme and toner. You will prepare samples to take home using the paints, chipping creme and toner.
Workshop II “In your own words” 11:00a.m.-12:00a.m
Make a stenciled sign using CC “in your own words” stencil technology. The one time use stencils can be ordered to say anything in any size. They are great for mother goose rhymes on nursery room walls or for recipes for kitchen walls. Choose from “carpe vino…sieze the wine” or “live simply…laugh often” stencils for your sign. These signs would also make great Christmas gifts.

Workshop III “Metal Leaf and Sticky back Stencils” 1:00p.m.-2:30p.m.

CC stickyback stencils can be washed and used repeatedly and come in a variety of designs. The stickyback makes for a nice clear stencil impression with no bleeding under the stencil. Stencil a gift bag to take home and use during the holidays. The metal leaf is fantastic and great for picture frames and other accessories. It comes in gold, silver, and copper. Take home a gilded project you finish yourself.

Cost for each workshop is $20.00 or take all 3 for $50.00. I provide all the products and materials needed and you take home with your finished products and lots of Caromal Colours DIY knowledge. I will also provide coffee, pastries and deli sandwiches.
Classes limited to 8 students and fee must be paid in advance to reserve your spot. Class minimum is 4 students.

What are you supposed to be??

Remember that question? The neighbor would ask, your teacher, even your friends. "What are you supposed to be?" - while I loved the attention each different halloween costume gave me, I hated this question! I always thought - "GEEZ, I am a XXX! DUH! My costume is perfection, how could you not know?!"

Things are more complicated now with our costumes, for our kids and for us adults. So, what are YOU going to be? I haven't completely decided yet. My oldest decided on a fortune teller. I love this idea! My favorite ideas are the ones not bought from a store. (that said my 4 year old is a store bought fairy! But what can you do with these commercial inspired kids?? I tried, that is the best I can do! )

For the past 2 weeks, I find myself walking through ARTifacts looking for appropriate accessories for the best dressed fortune teller. I have found so many wonderful necklaces, bracelets, earrings and more to make her fortune teller costume unique and one of a kind.

Got us thinking - what other costumes could ARTifacts inspire for you? Let's take a look!

Finishing touches on all costumes are the accessories. The clothes make the outfit, but the accessories complete the deal! Yesterday I sold pearl necklaces and pearl earrings and a fabulous vintage purse to a APSU student who is going as Audrey Hepburn! Made her promise to send me a photo - if she remembers, I will share with you all.
Disco dancer? This purse would be perfect for that!
We have loads of hats that could inspire ideas for costumes. We even have some vintage fur hats and headbands that would be fun!
This pink dress is for a child, about a 4-7 in size. It is vintage and you could so so many directions with it. A ghost would be so fun. Or if you are into Halloween, but don't have the time to do an entire costume, these printed shirts from Zach Finney are one of a kind works of art and horror in one!
Love these funny 1950's outfits! We have these, and then vintage metal coffee serving pots - you could be June Clever!
These vintage 70's shirts (popular today by the way) would also make for a fun 70's costume.

Good luck finding your inner child! And HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
And don't forget to come downtown for Fright on Franklin on the 31st. A safe and fun trick or treating environment for the kids, plus costume contest and pumpkin carving contests!
Cheers!

Time to Get Ready?

Christmas....

it is coming....

Nothing you can do to stop it!

But you can start to prepare for it, and I am here to help you get ready! Here are some great ideas for you to consider for your friends & family. Our goal at ARTifacts is to help you find a special unique gift - a gift not available at any big box store. Instead a 1 of a kind thoughtful gift that will withstand the test of time!

HoneyDogStudios has just brought in these handmade leather purses & totes. An amazing investment - since leather will last forever! One of his customers has been carrying her tote for over 5 years just about daily and it is just as beautiful, and the leather has become more supple then when brand new. A gift for many years to come - and still 100% practical.

Specially made gift bags for quick gift giving and a great price!

Elisabeth has been adding to her collection of hats, scarves, blankets, and other knitted items for you to start collecting for gifts.

These wallets have been a favorite. Handmade and with fun fabrics and the perfect size for any size purse. Great gift!

Love these leggings! Great colors and designs - loads of choices! My 7 year old wishes they came in her size.
Cheers!

More Fall Decor!

I have already done one blog about the Halloween and fall decor brought in by our different vendors - but most of those items have sold and now they have restocked. So, I wanted to share with you the newer items.

I love this basket - set up like a bird cage with a black crow inside. Wonderfully fall and Halloween display in one!

This floral arrangement is attached to a vintage rake. So cute, and inventive. Of course, the price is outstanding too! You couldn't make this yourself for this small price tag!

Gilded pumpkins and decorative balls are new pieces in the booth of Oh Baby! Kathy could teach you how to do this technique or you can just buy them from her - you wouldn't believe how affordable the display in this photo is! And you can use it now, and easily through until you pull out your display for the winter holidays.

I really enjoy this display also. Keepsake Memories mostly features their engaged wooden frames & signs, but she also is an incredible artist. I particularly enjoy these two images for the fall season. Warm & inviting!
Cheers!
